Charles Douglas-Home Memorial Trust Competition
We are pleased to announce that Frontline is to join The Charles Douglas-Home Memorial Trust in running a journalism competition which the Trust has awarded for some time. The winning article will be published in the next issue of Frontline. The writer should have been working in journalism for under 7 years. The winner of the award will be offered a Times internship/work experience in Wapping for between 1– 3 months. The winner will be decided by a panel formed by Frontline and the Trustees from the Memorial Trust. Please check our website for the competition details. Charles Douglas-Home was editor of The Times from 1982 until his death in 1985. The Trustees have chosen Frontline to publish the winner of this year’s award, because they thought that the broadsheet harnessed much of the spirit of the best journalism of Charles’s era thoughtful, provocative, international and well-researched. If you can write a timely piece on one of the issues that was of particular interest to Charles (namely Defence, Foreign Affairs, Democracy, The Royal Prerogative in the 21st Century, Music) please send it in to [email protected] by July 15th 2010. It should number 2,000 words approximately. The winner will be contacted before the next issue.The Judges decision will be final. Previous winners include: VS Naipaul, Michael Gove, Matthew d’Ancona, Anne Applebaum and Anthony Daniels, James Delingpole, Philip Johnston and, last year, Douglas Murray. The Trustees and Advisors are Noel Malcolm, William Shawcross, David Pryce-Jones and Patrick James. Frontline is grateful for the support it receives from the Trust.
