Alex Strick van Linschoten joins the Frontline
Alex Strick van Linschoten has been living and working in Afghanistan on and off for the last five years. He’ll be writing a blog here at From the Frontline called A war reporter on the road. He starts in Kenya, but he’ll also be blogging from Somalia, Chechnya and Iraq over the coming months and years. Here’s a wee bit more on Alex at Lightstalkers,
He is working on a book on how Sufi groups interact and work together with militant jihadi organisations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechnya, and how this plays out in terms of the spiritual lives of peoples at war in those countries.
He worked as an Arabic translator for Mideastwire.com, an Arabic-language media-monitor for the Arab world. He has worked as a freelance journalist from Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon. He speaks Arabic, Farsi, and German well and can get by in French, Dutch and Pashtu. link
Great to have Alex on board. Very much looking forward to hearing about his travels. We have two other blogs to launch over the next week or two. Will let you know when.
