Explorers Club: Canada C3 + Social

Talk Thursday 7th November 2019, 06:30PM

The Explorers Club will be hosting the UK première screening of “Canada C3 – Coast to Coast to Coast,” followed by Q&A with expedition leader and staff. Filmed during the historic Canada C3 expedition, this inspiring documentary retraces the 150-day icebreaker journey from Toronto to Victoria in 2017.

Canada C3 was a Signature Project for Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation. The centrepiece was an epic 150-day sailing journey from from Lake Ontario, down the mighty St. Lawrence River to the Atlantic Ocean, then through the Northwest Passage to the Pacific Coast.

Four central themes shaped the expedition in 2017, including: Reconciliation, the Environment, Diversity and Inclusion, and Youth Engagement. Through these lenses, the journey served to better connect and deepen understanding amongst Canadians as they shared their stories of community, place, and culture. Involved in the expedition was a diverse group of over 450 participants, thousands of citizens living in the over 75 coastal (mostly indigenous) communities, and millions who participated virtually through various social media and digital learning platforms.
