Screening: Shooting the Messenger

Screening Friday 3rd October, 2008

In Shooting the Messenger Mike Nicholson and director Ian Stuttard, two veteran conflict reporters undertake an eye-opening journey into what they claim is the deliberate targeting of journalists and crews in conflict zones from Sri Lanka to Zimbabwe and the Middle East.

Since 2007 over 100 journalists have been killed in Iraq and the Middle East alone. Those who risk their lives to report are often revered in the areas they work. None were more so than 23 year-old Fadel Shana’a, a Palestinian agency cameraman featured in Shooting the Messenger, whose luck ran out in April 2008 when he was killed by flechettes from Israeli tank fire.
