Roddy Scott remembered
Next week sees the launch of the first ever Nidderdale Book Festival. It will help raise funds for the Roddy Scott Foundation. Roddy was one of the original Frontline TV agency journalists before he was killed by Russian soldiers in Chechnya in 2002. Roddy came from Nidderdale. The festival, which runs until May 11, is a “showcase of writing, history, and war reporting”,
Roddy’s father Robin Scott said they were very excited about the event: “The response has been fantastic, some are virtually sold out. We’re very pleased with the way people have been taking on the talks.
“We’re very excited about the speakers. When Roddy was killed we had a lot of support from friends, Kate Adie has been down twice to raise funds.
“David Loyn, BBC Development world correspondent knew Roddy and through him we have drawn together this team of writers.†link
