MENA Film Festival: Beyond the Walls

Screening October 29, 2012 7:00 PM

Entwining beautiful animation and interviews, Beyond the Walls tells the story of former Arab and Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli jails. The film details how they adjusted to society after being released, how they gave meaning to their daily life in prison and the harsh conditions they often faced within the walls.

Director Ahmad Adnan Al-Rumahi emphasises the challenges the protagonists faced after prison. The film goes beyond their initial difficulties to cover forming new relationships or finding a place in a society that changed enormously, while exploring the philosophical idea of freedom.

The UK Premiere of Beyond the Walls is in partnership with the London Middle East & North Africa Film Festival that takes place from 26 October 2 to  November in different venues across London.
