Insight with James Appathurai – NATO in Afghanistan and beyond

Talk Thursday 17th January, 2008

NATO’s principal spokesman and member of the alliance’s senior policy board talks about the organisation’s role in international affairs – especially Afghanistan, Kosovo and relations with Russia.

Formerly a journalist and author, James Appathurai has worked for NATO since 1994, first as a policy officer at the Department of National Defence and later as Senior Planning Officer for the Policy Planning and Speechwriting Section. He is now principal spokesman for the alliance.

With NATO heavily involved in Afghanistan and Kosovo back on the international agenda, we ask what the alliance’s priorities are and how it is planning to cope with changing international demands.

Moderated by Michael Evans – The Times Defence Editor.
