Alex de Waal, author of Darfur: a Short History of a Long War, talks about the history of Darfur, its conflicts, and what the future holds in store.

His book investigates the identity of the infamous "Janjawiid" militia and the nature of the insurrection and charts the unfolding crisis and the international response.

Nima Elbagir is a reporter for Unreported World and recently made a film which secured unprecedented access to one of the main Arab militias accused of belonging to the infamous Janjaweed, who are blamed for the atrocities in Darfur.
