In the picture with Heathcliff O’Malley – The World Since 9/11 from Iraq and Afghanistan

Heathcliff O’Malley recently returned from an embed with coalition forces on the front line of the worsening Iraq war where he shot some of the most defining photographs to come out of the region in recent months. He was one of the few photographers in New York at the time of the attacks on the World Trade Centre – the pictures he took that day were seen around the globe as the world tried to take in the magnitude of the attack. Since then he has followed the consequences ever since throughout Afghanistan and Iraq.

In this event he will showcase some of the prime examples of his work and talk with Peter Beaumont about his life as a photographer since 9/11, which has seen him risking life and limb to work on the front line providing images for the Daily Telegraph.

In November 2004 O’Malley undertook his first embed with the coalition forces and his since spent time at the sharp end with both American and British forces. Earlier this year he worked in Kurdistan to cover the trial of ‘Chemical’ Ali and interview survivors from Halabja.
