Declan Walsh has hunted Osama bin Laden, reported on breweries in Pakistan
and witnessed the repercussions of last summer’s war in Lebanon. Photography, his second strength, is as striking as his writing.

Joining the Guardian as Pakistan/Afghanistan correspondent three years ago
after a stint at the Independent, Declan Walsh has impressed readers and

His latest multimedia slide shows on British forces in Helmand highlights
the problems of battling the Taliban while training Afghanistan’s new and
