Looking Back at 2010: Reflections at the Frontline Club

Reflections in association with the BBC College of Journalism brings top journalists to the stage to reflect on their career's, the work of others that has inspired them and to pass on knowledge and guidance to young journalists.

In February shortly before his scheduled departure, Richard Sambrook joined us to look back on his 30 year career at the BBC. In conversation with now former BBC executive Vin Ray, Sambrook recalled some of the major events of his career from covering the fall of the Berlin Wall to his defence of the Today programme's report on how the Blair government had knowingly exaggerated claims relating to Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction. In May Vin Ray was joined on stage by International Editor for Channel 4 News Lindsey Hilsum, she walked us through a career that has seen her report from every continent in the world apart from Antarctica. From her coverage of the Rwandan genocide in 1994 to her more recent work as China correspondent and head of the Beijing bureau. You can read the blog post from this event here.

In July a packed room came to hear Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow reflect on his career to date and the journalism that has influenced him. Commonly known as the face of Channel 4 News Snow's career has taken him around the world covering major events of the past 30 years and interviewing key global figures. He began his career on 16mm film and as the craft has evolved Snow has adapted, embracing tools such as the blogosphere and twitter. Read about this event here
