Fasih Ahmed wins New York Press Club Award

Fasih Ahmed has won the New York Press Club’s Best Spot News Award 2007 for coverage of the Benazir Bhutto assassination for Newsweek.

”I am very pleased to have been acknowledged by my peers in journalism,” said Mr Ahmed. This is an award for democracy and for Pakistan.
Mr Ahmed was the Inaugural Daniel Pearl Fellow and worked as a Staff Reporter at Washington, DC, bureau of The Wall Street Journal.
He was also a fellow at the East-West Institute in 2004. Mr Ahmed is the former City Editor of Pakistan’s Daily Times and Assistant News Editor of The Friday Times.
The New York Press Club awards recognise excellence and accomplishment in journalism, and this year’s winners were selected from nearly 300 nominees. The presentation of the Press Club’s 2008 Journalism Awards will take place at a ceremony in Manhattan on June 16. link
