Saddam Hussein's nephew blogging?
on October 20, 2008 11:43 AM
This is the sort of post that comes with a significant disclaimer - I can't entirely verify the authenticity of the blog.
But I thought I'd point you in the direction of a blog whose author claims to be one of Saddam Hussein's nephews, Al-Hussain Arshad Yassin.
In this post Al-Hussain offers a defence of some of Saddam Hussein's actions and in another he focuses on Saddam's policy towards Jews in Iraq - a post that receives a heated response from an Iraqi Jew.
In terms of trying to find some independent verification, I did try to contact the people who run Iraq Blog Count. They felt confident enough to flag up the blog in the first place but they haven't got back to my enquiry yet.
I also got in touch with an Iraqi contact who told me it's certainly possible that the blog is genuine. Many of Saddam's close relatives are scattered around the globe in exile.
